Remote Initial Review
Start with the photographs you already have
If you are caring for an embroidered textile and are unsure what kind of help it may need, you can begin by sending a short description and the photographs already available to you. We will first look at the basic information and consider whether the object may fall within our professional scope.
What to send
- Your name, email, and country or location.
- A short description of the object and the question you want to resolve.
- Overall photographs and close-up photographs of areas of concern.
- Photographs of the reverse or mounting, if they already exist.
- Approximate dimensions and any previous treatment information, if known.
Please do not dismantle, unfold, lift, or otherwise disturb a fragile textile just to take photographs.
What this first review means
A Remote Initial Review is a preliminary look at photographs and basic information you already have. It helps us decide whether the object may be suitable for a further conversation and what the next step might be.
It is not a formal condition assessment, Professional Conservation Assessment, appraisal, detailed treatment proposal, or quotation. A separate professional assessment and any treatment or reproduction proposal would be defined only after the object and project requirements have been understood.
